  • Implement, maintain, and ensure compliance with the Museum’s collection management policies and procedures, assuring their ethical integrity and effectiveness with regards to AAM best practices for collection stewardship.

  • Prioritize and develop ethical and empathetic standards for documenting artist identity in order to facilitate the teaching and research of more diverse histories of art, and deepen the data associated with collected artworks.

  • Guide objects through the accessions process involving the administration of Deed of Gift and Gift in Kind forms, creating provenance files, issuing object numbers, labeling objects and finding appropriate storage.

  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing loan and exhibition logistics, overseeing transportation, packing, shipping, and storage.

  • Condition works of art as they are received by the museum as loans and accessions, allowing for the examination and handling of a variety of art media.

  • Monitor gallery and storage environments related to the collection and exhibitions, including temperature and humidity readouts, pest management and light exposure recording.

  • Manage and organize object, constituent, exhibition and loan records in The Museum System (TMS) database, helping to advance the production, accuracy, and detail of digital cataloguing records.

  • Manage rights and reproduction requests for the permanent collection.

  • Administer legal forms (loan agreement, incoming/outgoing receipt, etc.), as well as other appropriate forms, contracts, and logs related to the collection.

  • Effectively communicate with artists, lenders, and donors via email and phone, while also closely working with members of museum staff on a daily basis.

  • Courier outgoing loaned objects in order to ensure safe and secure arrival of artwork and proper installation.

  • Maintain and update the Museum’s Disaster Response Plan for the safety of staff, visitors, and collections.

  • Advise staff on matters concerning storage, insurance, loan, security and display of objects, condition, as well as other collection or exhibition issues

  • Assist preparators in gallery turn over and movement of artwork when needed.

  • Oversee department interns, establishing a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and mutual support

  • Continue professional development and sharing of best practices with colleagues nationally through participation in professional conferences and seminars on collection care and management.

  • Plan, prep and facilitate monthly family programs that correspond to museum exhibitions.

  • Assist visiting artists in executing their projects during monthly workshops.

  • Conduct research on art works and artists within ongoing exhibitions for drafting extended text label content.

  • Give tours to a range of visitors, from preschoolers to the university’s group of trusted donors.

  • Partake in various outreach opportunities at schools and events within the community, informing the public about the museum’s ongoing family programs and exhibitions through means of presentation and project making.

  • Participate in workshops with preeminent Latino scholars and leaders to discuss and understand the role of Latinos in the arts, sciences and humanities. Program culminated into an internship at the Arizona Science Center.

  • Design multidisciplinary project based on an ongoing sustainability exhibition that incorporated art into a scientific environment.

  • Interview individuals in various departments in the Arizona Science Center to understand their interdisciplinary roles in meeting the Museum’s mission and how their community of staff worked together.

  • Participate in community outreach event with Scottsdale Public Library to promote early childhood literacy.
